WATCH: A female cyclist was taken to hospital after a crash involving a commercial truck in Langford
At 10:30 Wednesday morning, a Van-Kam tractor unit, based out of Surrey, was travelling southbound on Millstream Road and was turning onto McCallum Road when it struck a cyclist.
The woman, in her 50’s, was also travelling southbound.
The woman’s bike was crumpled and lodged underneath the front axle of the truck.
The intersection was closed and traffic was delayed for several hours as crash investigators and the commercial vehicle safety inspector were called to the scene.
“The tractor unit was attempting a right turn onto McCallum when he struck a female cyclist we don’t know the extent of the injuries that the cyclist suffered right now she was transported to Victoria General Hospital to be treated for her injuries,” said West Shore RCMP Constable Alex Berube.
RCMP say visibility was good and roads were dry.
They continue their investigation and won’t say at this time if charges are being considered.
The woman’s injuries are not believed to be life-threatening.
