WATCH: For the second time in two years, a CHEK News story about high school students showing their love for a very special senior has gone viral
A CHEK News story about a Valentine’s surprise for a very special senior has gone viral — just like a similar story did two years ago.
In just over a day, the touching story had already reached more than a quarter of a million people.
On Friday, students from Highland Secondary in Comox ‘love bombed’ the yard of 86-year-old Tinney Davidson as a special Valentine’s surprise.
The great-grandmother has been waving at students as they pass by her house for years.
She made world-wide headlines two years ago when the school surprised her with a special Valentine’s assembly to thank her for making their day. The entire school stood up and waved at Tinney before giving her Valentine’s.
The teacher who organized this year’s surprise said it’s an important lesson for students.
“When people are encouraged to be grateful, they’re just happier people,” says Highland math teacher Charlotte Hood Tanner.
Tinney was totally shocked — and overwhelmed — by the big surprise that saw students put hearts made out of painted milk jugs all over her lawn.
“It was a wonderful event,” Tinney said, overcome with emotion. “The kids are just so wonderful. I love them!”
After our story was posted online Friday evening, it quickly went viral — reaching hundreds of thousands of people and getting thousands of likes, shares and comments.
