After finishing 29th in the NHL Standings, the one silver-lining in the Vancouver Canucks tumultuous season was the possibility of drafting one of the top 2 picks in this summer’s NHL draft. Many NHL scouts consider Nico Hischier (Halifax Mooseheads) and Nolan Patrick (Brandon Wheatkings) head and shoulders above the rest of the 2017 Draft eligible players.
But the ball did not bounce the Canucks way, and Vancouver will be selecting in the #5 spot, the worst possible outcome considering their draft lottery odds.
