A body believed to be that of a five-year-old girl who had been the subject of an Amber Alert has been found on a rural property near Calgary.
Calgary police said they were “deeply saddened” to report the tragic end to the story of Taliyah Leigh Marsman, who was reported missing after the body of her mother, Sara Baillie, 34, was found Monday night in the home they shared.
Searchers who were scouring a property near Chestermere, Alta., found the girl’s body.
The cause of death was not known.
Tonight, Edward Downey was charged with two counts of 1st-degree murder in the deaths.
The 46-year old is believed to have been an acquaintance of both mother and daughter.
Calgary Police now say they believe Taliyah was killed on Monday, before her mother’s body was found.
They say investigators are completely devastated by the loss of Taliyah and grateful to public for help and support.
They will continue to gather evidence in the case.
The Amber Alert, which had been issued Tuesday, was cancelled.
Downey will be back in court on July 20th.
