A B.C. Wildfire Services compound in Bowser was vandalized last week raising concerns about safety while it is offline.
Someone hopped a five foot fence to get into the compound and broke into a cabinet by bending the door up.
They then ripped out the power supply leaving wires hanging.
The damage is estimated at roughly $1000,
but of even more concern than the cost is the safety of fire crews and the public.
The sites are used to help figure out fire danger ratings, that allows for crew positioning, public advisories and industry shut downs.
That fact is clearly indicated on the equipment to try to prevent it from being damaged.
If you have any information about the incident, please call your local RCMP or Crimestoppers
