Saanich Police have arrested a man in connection with a string of sexual assaults on the University of Victoria campus.
Investigators say four women came forward to police two weeks ago, all claiming they had been sexually assaulted on campus by the same man.
The man — who is also a student at the university — has yet to be identified but is facing five counts of sexual assault for the alleged UVic sex assaults.
All of the victims of the are between 19 and 20 years old and police say they know their alleged attacker very well.
“Four women came to the Saanich Police department and informed us they had been assaulted by a man known to them at the university,” says Sgt. Jereme Leslie of the Saanich Police. “These assaults took place over a span of several months at the University of Victoria.”
The University of Victoria released a statement saying it can confirm that related to this incident, the university has removed a male student from the campus community and that the individual is not permitted on university property.
He has been released by police and is expected to make his first court appearance in April.
