It’s an annual welcome to the City of Nanaimo.
For the fourth time, a special reception officially welcomed new immigrants to the city.
From RCMP members, to politicians, it’s an opportunity for all members of the greater Nanaimo community to officially welcome the new immigrants to the city.
A group that includes a number of former Syrian refugees, and encouraging new families to move to the city, according to John Horn with the City of Nanaimo.
“Part of this is making immigrants feel welcome.
That they are special.
That we want them here, living here.
That we want to make them feel as part of the community.
That’s the goal of this reception, to make them feel part of the community.”
