It was the original musical production of Irving Berlin songs & dance that kicked off the Belfry four decades ago.
The show was conceived by the theatre’s first artistic director Don Shipley starring Danny Costain, Mary Swinton, Bill Hosie & Sheila McCarthy.
This time around, the show stars Lauren Bowler, Andrew MacDonald-Smith, Katrina Reynolds & John Ullyatt under the direction of another former Belfry artistic director Glynis Leyshon.
“Puttin on the Ritz is a celebration of the music of Irving Berlin who was arguably the best tin pan alley song stylist of the 20th century,” according to Leyshon.
(They’re the)”… kind of songs that stick in your head, the kind of songs you whistle to, they’re the kind of songs that Ginger Rogers & Fred Astaire could dance to.”
The energy is there for sure, the songs are classics and it is nothin’ but fun all night long.
Puttin’ on the Ritz runs through to May 8th, it may be held over but be advised, tickets are in short supply.
Also on stage in Victoria….
