WATCH: A downtown Victoria city block was evacuated Tuesday afternoon after a bomb threat at Our Place
Police closed Pandora Avenue between Quadra and Vancouver Streets and evacuated Our Place after a bomb threat was called in around 2:00 p.m. Tuesday afternoon.
Clients were moved to the First Metropolitan Church as police searched the facility.
And Our Place was forced to cancel dinner service Tuesday as well.
“We probably have about 200 to 250 people, we have 45 residents in the three floors up above plus we have all the people in our drop in and so we had to make sure and clear every floor step by step,” said Grant McKenzie, Our Place spokesperson.
“We have a very standard protocol that we use in situations like this and we’re going to be following this and they are designed for one thing and that’s to keep everyone as safe as possible,” said Victoria Police spokesperson Bowen Osoko.
Just before 5:00 p.m. the building was deemed safe and the block was reopened to traffic.
