Cutting edge research at the University of Victoria, that could have an impact on construction and infrastructure world wide, got a big financial boost today from the BC government.

Nearly $825,000 from the BC Knowledge Development Fund will allow the UVIC develop a smart concrete, that has the ability to heal itself and repair cracks that develop over time.
Concrete is the most widely used contruction material in the world.
The money will also be used to house a high capacity server to monitor structures like the BC legislature where the technology minister today celebrated the advancement of knowledge-based industry.
