The cyclist who was tragically struck and killed by a truck Tuesday morning in downtown Victoria has been identified as Eileen Evans.
The 73-year-old was an experienced cyclist who was on her way to Government House where she volunteered in the gardens.
A bike rack memorial will be placed at Government House next month in her honour.
Brian Rogers, with the Friends of Government House Gardens Society, describes her as a bright soul, and a dedicated volunteer.
“She had a work ethic which was incredible and she had a very strong crew that worked with her and was highly respected by all her friends.”
In Chinatown, flowers have been placed in the spot where she was killed.
The Friends of Government House are working on the best way to remember Evans.
