The struggle to find new accommodation continues for many of the 57 people forced out after a fire at a low-cost apartment hotel in Victoria Monday.
It now appears tenants won’t be able to live at the Traveller’s Inn complex anytime soon.
Some did return today to see each other and take another a look at the damage.
And in a city where there is already a chronic lack of affordable housing, for many, the impact of the fire goes far beyond any lost possessions.
“It really hurts for this to happen,” said displaced resident Chass Duff, “I’ve had the carpet pulled out from under me more than once and I just got my life back together and for this to happen is a real tragedy.”
City emergency management continues to help out those displaced.
Investigators determined the fire was deliberately set and their investigation continues.
