The Capital Regional District will now share responsibility with the province when it comes to emergency preparedness.
CRD Chair Barb Desjardins says the new regional emergency management partnership will see the CRD and the Province each provide 50 percent of resources to help municipalities prepare for emergencies
affecting the entire region.
“This partnership is an important step to enhance our emergency planning and disaster reliance activities across the capital region.
It’s an excellent example of how through collaboration we can better prepare for and respond to emergencies that are beyond a single local authority’s ability to handle.”
The new agreement will applies to all 13 municipalities in the CRD.
